Position Description: Network Runners is seeking aSOF Weapons Technician to support the Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), 720th Special Tactics Group (720th STG), and Special Tactics Training Squadron (STTS). The SOF Weapons Technician provides technical support for the management, maintenance and training of a wide range of Special Operations Forces weapons and associated ammunition. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, testing and repairing weapons systems, instructing students on weapons use, managing controlled areas and ammunition accounts, serving as Range Safety Officer and ensuring regulatory compliance. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide troubleshooting, testing, accountability, issuance control and management of various weapons systems, equipment and ammunition, including pistols, rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, rocket launchers, suppressors, night‑vision sighting devices and associated ammunition and explosives.
Perform in‑depth equipment checks; conduct detailed maintenance and repair; declare equipment serviceability; disassemble weapons, assemblies and subassemblies; inspect for defects and mechanical malfunctions using precision gauges and alignment devices.
Handle small arms and associated ammunition during instruction and assist with weapons training for students.
Serve as Control Area Monitor, maintaining the controlled area binder and developing armory procedures to regulate entry and internal circulation during normal and emergency operations.
Serve as Munitions Custodian, maintaining auditable records and accountability for all munitions assets up to Class 1.1 explosives.
Serve as Chief Range Officer (CRO) and Range Safety Officer (RSO), ensuring overall range safety, enforcing range regulations, supervising shooters and conducting safety briefs before live‑fire exercises.
Conduct semi‑annual reconciliation of all weapons, attachments and ammunition up to Class 1.1 explosives; resolve discrepancies; update the Master Custodian Authorization/Custody Receipt Listing (CA/CRL) and correct errors.
Develop, implement and oversee administrative functions for SOCOM weapons and equipment; demonstrate weapons fire on light and heavy weapons systems and ensure safe training operations.
Required/Desired Skills and Experience:
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Special Operations Forces Weapons Instructor.
Possess a Special Experience Identifier (SEI) Code 312 as a 7‑level Combat Arms Training and Maintenance (CATM) instructor or an equivalent SOF sister‑service qualification.
Ability to lift 40 pounds and work in physically rigorous shop and outdoor environments, including non‑climate‑controlled settings.
Extensive knowledge of SOF weapons systems, ammunition and range safety procedures.
Strong attention to detail, record‑keeping skills and safety awareness.
